SUMMARY:"MORE is MORE" group art show - A Celebration of Maximilism
DESCRIPTION:I’m delighted to present “Splash” as part of MORE is MORE\, a richly expressive group exhibition celebrating maximalism through the work of ARTSPLACE members. Evoking the movement and brilliance of crashing waves\, this one-of-a-kind textile vessel is meticulously crafted with silk\, silver leaf\, silver wire\, gemstones\, and machine embroidery. “Splash” is available for purchase through the Gallery for $250.00 CAD. \n. \n \nSpecifications:\nHeight (inches):11.5\nWidth (inches):	11\nDepth (inches):	10 \n“Artists have been encouraged to interpret the theme in ways that reflect their own practices and lived\nexperiences. Some works may embrace saturated colour\, dense patterning\, or richly worked surfaces\, while\nothers may build meaning through repetition\, assemblage\, or the accumulation of materials and imagery.\nAcross media\, the exhibition highlights the many ways complexity can emerge through process\, form\, and\ncontent\,” said Gallery Director\, Sophie Paskins.\nThe exhibition also encouraged artists to push beyond restraint and embrace experimentation. Maximalism\ncan be playful or critical\, ordered or unruly. It may respond to identity\, memory\, desire\, consumption\,\nnostalgia\, or pleasure. In each case\, abundance becomes a means of expression rather than an end in itself.\n“More is More” opening reception Saturday\, August 1\, from 12 to 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served\, all\nare welcome. Exhibition continues through September 5\, 2026.

SUMMARY:A Shared Pulse - juried Group Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:I am thrilled to be included in this juried group exhibition at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design. My piece “Between the Tide”\, captures the moment of pause\, the brief interval between the receding tide and the suspended stillness before its return to shore. In this moment the ocean floor and tidal pools reveal a microcosm of rich remnants. This moment mirrors the pause between our in and out breath\, inviting us to tune into the rhythm of the ocean.\nMy work is deeply rooted in the fragile marine and coastal environment of the Bay of Fundy in rural Nova Scotia\, where I live. The experience of the viewer is at the heart of my work\, ultimately focusing on connection and relationships. My intent is to evoke a memory or feeling of water\, movement\, light\, a suspended moment in time.\nMaking by hand is central to my creative process and it grounds me in the textural qualities of silk\, linen and wool. My practice is informed by formal art training and art history\, but the actual making is intuitive. Colour plays a vital role in my practice. Mixing silk dyes and inventing new colour combinations\, helps me express my love for nature’s beauty and vulnerability. I paint original designs on volumes of silk and linen then deconstruct and collage these pieces using thousands of meters of embroidery thread and hand stitching.\nMedium: Silk\, Silver leaf\, Machine Embroidery\nSize: seven panels – of variable sizes each approx. 30” w x 64” h 76 cm w x 162 cm h price: $1\,650.00 CAN \n \n\nFor more information visit https://capebretoncraft.com/whats-on/exhibitions/
