FEATURED WORK
ABOUT ME
My yoga practice inspires me to create from a place of peace and joy. I’ve learned patience and understanding through the teachings of Pema Chödrön, C.G. Jung, and the Yoga Sutra. The poetry of Rumi, Mary Oliver, and many others, are also a profound source of inspiration, as is the dedication and creativity I bring to my daily practice.
Whether in my studio in Nova Scotia, Canada creating paintings and wearable art, or in my garden creating pleasing designs, I work with a sense of ease and playfulness.
This is the spirit I wish to share with you through my art. I hope it helps you appreciate the beauty and wonder of every relationship and every moment. I hope it makes you feel more joyful and alive. Most of all, I hope it helps you to Connect to the Amazing Every Day.
Wishing you all the very best in life and love, Coleen

FINE ART
As a professional artist, I value high quality materials. In each original piece of art, I use gallery grade canvas as well as acid free paper, the finest quality acrylic and gouache paint, handmade Japanese paper, oil pastels. Each print – on paper or giclee on canvas – is of the highest quality, produced one at a time at a local company near my home on the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia.
SILK SCARVES
I create one-of-a-kind hand painted silk scarves using the finest Silk Charmeuse, Stone Washed Crêpe de Chine and Silk Wool, using professional Dupont French Silk Dyes. Each scarf has a hand rolled hem with 100% silk thread and is steam set to allow cleaning and prevent fading. Creating an original scarf is a very involved process. First the silk must be washed with a special soap to remove all traces of silkworm gum. Next the scarf is placed on a stretcher. The design is then drawn by hand, and a resist applied. Once dried (about 8 hours) the dye is hand painted. When the dye has dried, the scarf is steamed (by wrapping it in clean cotton) for 2-3 hours. It then cures on the line for 48 hours, rinsed, washed, and rinsed again. Finally, it is gently rolled in a towel and ironed with a dry iron while damp.
